Inbox Zero - do you have an email issue - I did!

Inbox Zero is a policy promoted by Merlin Mann a San Francisco blogger (he gets called a "productivity guru") who has been spreading the Inbox Zero gospel - since 2006. I've modified it to IZZD - see below.

I have only just picked this up - Thanks to The Times Saturday 30th August 2008 - and I think it's wonderful. Such a simple thing to do - but SO effective. I have around 400 mails a day and a lot of them are automatically put away in folders. That stills leaves plenty to play on my mind.

His is a ruthless program of culling the inbox into categories: Do, Delete, Archive and a few for special projects to keep them together. At the end of the process you have Inbox Zero.

All I have done is adapt the above principle to the way I work. One of my important folders is "Archive", it actually holds everything that I've dealt with but I might just need at a future date.

Then my Inbox folder is empty, and matters waiting for attention are kept in Do. So my entire incoming mail that is not sorted by other methods, is posted as it arrives. Then I allocate time to deal with and Do. Simple and unstressful

Then, as simple as it sounds - I keep an eye on "Do", each night I make a note in my paper diary of how many left- the goal is "Zero Do" It works for me. use it if it works for you - IZZD Inbox Zero - Zero Do.

Isn't it amazing that adopting a simple strategy can have such an effect. Email WAS overwhelming - NOW I control it. Thanks to Merlin Mann.

I have taken a great deal of trouble to ensure this site works perfectly in the following browsers, IE 5 (both Mac and PC) IE 6 and 7 and Opera (PC only), Safari and Firefox (both Mac and PC). I will also be testing your browser to see if it'll work with the latest Web 2 systems. You will see that the HTML code and the CSS both validate perfectly.

A passion and joy and my life work. Automation is a passion. Make the machines do the work. People should do what they do best (and that is usually things machines cannot do). Machines should do those tasks humans are poor at like - druggery work - and usually machines are brilliant. Go to my Insurance Automation site

Another site I have where I provide lots of specialist information, especially on php programming. I use this myself a lot - if it helps you - that's good
